Investigation into Death of Ex-MİT Officer Kozinoğlu: Prosecutors Summon ‘Valley of the Wolves’ Screenwriters and Exhume Body

The Silivri Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has taken new steps in the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the suspicious death of former National Intelligence Organization (MİT) officer Kaşif Kozinoğlu, who died in a correctional facility in 2011.
As part of the investigative actions, the agency summoned screenwriters of the Turkish TV series 'Valley of the Wolves' (Kurtlar Vadisi) to testify. Raci Şaşmaz, Bahadır Özdener, and Cüneyt Aysan are set to give testimony on September 14, 2026, as individuals with information regarding the case.
In addition, by decision of the Silivri prosecutor's office, Kozinoğlu's body was exhumed at a cemetery in the Ümraniye district. Investigative authorities expect to establish the exact cause of the former intelligence officer's death and determine whether there was third-party involvement.
The work at the cemetery was conducted by a special team consisting of three forensic experts, one chemist, and one autopsy technician. Specialists collected bone, soil, and other samples from the burial site, which were then transported by a special vehicle to the Council of Forensic Medicine.
The collected materials will be analyzed alongside CCTV footage from the correctional facility, emergency call logs (112), and medical documentation from the hospital. Based on these data, the First Specialized Board of the Council of Forensic Medicine will prepare an official forensic report.
