Executive Power officials arrested for corruption in Yardimli
Two local Executive Power officials have been detained in the Yardimli District on suspicion of illegal land sales and abuse of official power.

On September 15, 2026, law enforcement agencies conducted an anti-corruption special operation in the Yardimli District of Azerbaijan. As a result, officials of the local Executive Power were detained.
The press service of the Prosecutor General's Office confirmed that the operational measures were organized by the Anti-Corruption Directorate under the Prosecutor General. During the special operation, Elchin Adil oglu Mirzayev, deputy head of the Department for Analysis and Forecasting of Socio-Economic Development, and Yashar Hasanaga oglu Eyvazov, chief consultant, were detained.
According to investigators, the officials are suspected of unlawful acts related to the illegal sale of land plots. The detainees have been charged with abuse of official authority and corruption offenses. The Anti-Corruption Directorate is currently continuing the criminal investigation.
On September 15, 2026, by an order of President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, Ayaz Askerov was dismissed from his post as head of the Executive Power of the Yardimli District.
