5th Meeting of the Council of Prosecutors General of OTS Member States Held in Turkestan

On September 11, 2026, Turkestan hosted the fifth meeting of the Council of Prosecutors General of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS). The event was attended by heads of prosecutor's offices and leaders of delegations from the member states, who discussed strengthening cooperation in justice, security, and the rule of law.

During the meeting, Secretary General of the OTS, Ambassador Kubanychbek Omuraliev, noted the growing importance of interaction between law enforcement agencies and prosecutorial bodies against the backdrop of transforming threats. He emphasized that the Council of Prosecutors General has become an important institutional mechanism for exchanging best practices and developing practical partnerships between states.

A dedicated set of issues focused on risks associated with technological development, digitalization, and the spread of artificial intelligence technologies. According to Omuraliev, challenges such as cybercrime, internet fraud, the malicious use of AI, money laundering, and the activities of transnational organized groups rapidly transcend national borders. Countering them requires fast, coordinated, and tech-driven solutions.

Following the meeting, the parties signed a memorandum of cooperation between the prosecutor's offices of OTS member states in the field of state prosecution. The document aims to increase the efficiency of joint work and coordinate efforts to prevent crime.

Also during the meeting, Prosecutor General of Kazakhstan Berik Asylov, on behalf of the Council, presented a letter of appreciation to Kubanychbek Omuraliev for his contribution to developing ties between the prosecutorial services of Turkic countries. The next meeting of the OTS Council of Prosecutors General is scheduled to take place in Azerbaijan.
