Azerbaijan's Ministry of Health is monitoring the spread of information about plague in Russia's Irkutsk region. The ministry said the data is under the supervision of the Ministry of Health's Center for Control of Especially Dangerous Infections.

According to the ministry, there is currently no need to introduce additional restrictive measures in Azerbaijan in connection with the plague.

"In Azerbaijan, the epidemiological situation is stable and under the control of the relevant structures. Sanitary and epidemiological measures for persons arriving in the country from Russia are carried out in accordance with current requirements. If a suspected case is detected, laboratory testing of samples taken from the patient can be conducted in the laboratory of the Ministry of Health's Center for Control of Especially Dangerous Infections. The Center is equipped with the necessary equipment and materials to conduct such tests. The activities of the Center for Control of Especially Dangerous Infections include epidemiological surveillance for plague and other especially dangerous infections."

The ministry also noted that over the past 50 years, not a single case of plague infection has been registered in Azerbaijan.

According to the ministry, there is no situation for the population of Azerbaijan that gives grounds for particular concern.
