The G20 finance ministers' meeting, held in Asheville, North Carolina, concluded without the signing of a final communiqué. The lack of consensus was due to objections from the Chinese delegation, which opposed several provisions included in the draft document.
Due to Beijing's position, the U.S. side, which chaired the meeting, decided to issue a separate statement on behalf of 19 states. This move highlights the persistent depth of economic disagreements between the world's two largest economies.
