Gref: AI cannot understand a person’s inner state

Sberbank CEO German Gref said that artificial intelligence is unable to understand a person's inner state, and that in matters of the soul it is better to turn to a human being. He made the remark at the Sberuniversity conference devoted to education and development. The report was published with a reference to RIA Novosti.
According to Gref, if someone is "not quite right inside" — for example, their hands drop or motivation disappears — the first thing they would need is to consult a person, not AI. "I will go to a human sooner," he said.
Gref explained that in such situations only a human can understand a person's condition. In his view, AI does not recognise nonverbal signals. "There are a lot of nonverbal things. AI will not understand this, but an experienced person who is used to feeling it will," he noted.
Speaking about risks, Gref said that artificial intelligence is not yet in a state where it could get out of control, and that such dangers are largely created by people themselves. According to him, AI becomes dangerous when it is used by scammers. "That is why one should fear not AI, but the people who use it faster than we do," he concluded.
