Pentagon Extends Deployment of U.S. Troops in the Middle East
The deployment duration for U.S. military personnel in the Middle East is being extended, creating logistical challenges and hindering equipment maintenance.

U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth has decided to extend the deployment of American military personnel in the Middle East. According to reports, the completion of operations in the region by the end of the current year is not guaranteed, forcing command to adjust rotation schedules.
Currently, approximately 50,000 U.S. troops are stationed in the region. The force includes 19 U.S. Navy ships, fighter squadrons, air defense units, and amphibious forces. For air defense units, the standard combat deployment period has been officially increased from 9 to 12 months.
The prolonged presence is negatively impacting personnel and the maintenance of combat units. Specifically, the destroyers 'Spruance' and 'Delbert D. Black' have remained in the conflict zone since the start of operations, participating in a naval blockade. The crews of these ships have been forced to spend many months at sea without port calls. It is also reported that units of the 82nd Airborne Division may remain in the region until next year.
Logistical issues are complicating supply chains and mail delivery for service members. Additionally, plans are underway to prepare the aircraft carrier 'Theodore Roosevelt' for deployment, with its combat duty potentially extended until the spring of next year.
U.S. President Donald Trump has expressed in private conversations that he favors ending active military operations. The President's position is that Washington's goals can be achieved primarily through increased economic pressure on Tehran.
