Turkey’s Presidential Symphony Orchestra Celebrates 200th Anniversary with World Tour

The Presidential Symphony Orchestra of Turkey (CSO), which traces its history back to 1826, has announced a series of international concerts as part of its 200th-anniversary celebrations. Turkish Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy stated that the anniversary season program includes performances in Bucharest, Prague, Vienna, and New York.

The international tour will begin on November 3, 2026, at the Bucharest National Opera. The concert, held in honor of Republic Day, will be conducted by Bujor Hoinic. The program includes Ferit Tüzün's "Turkish Capriccio," Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 20, and Bujor Hoinic's symphonic poem "Angora."

In March 2027, the orchestra will embark on a European tour under the baton of conductor Cem'i Can Deliorman. On March 29, the ensemble will perform at the Dvořák Hall in Prague's Rudolfinum, followed by a performance at the Vienna Konzerthaus on March 31. Cellist Mischa Maisky will be the soloist for these performances. The tour program includes Ferit Tüzün's "Nasreddin Hodja Suite," Antonín Dvořák's Cello Concerto, and Dmitri Shostakovich's Symphony No. 10. This program will be presented in Ankara on March 26.

The final stage of the anniversary season will be a concert at Carnegie Hall in New York, scheduled for September 21, 2027. The orchestra will be conducted by Cem'i Can Deliorman. Details regarding the repertoire for this performance will be announced at a later date.

Minister Mehmet Nuri Ersoy noted the significance of this event, emphasizing that the orchestra continues its two-century-old history on prestigious world stages. In addition to international tours, the CSO will continue to invite world-renowned conductors and soloists to perform in Ankara throughout the current season.
