Two Baku metro stations to offer free entry from September 23
From September 23, 2026, entry to Khojasan and Avtovagzal metro stations in Baku will be temporarily free. The measure has been introduced to improve transport connectivity as part of the metro line separation project.

From September 23, 2026, entry to Khojasan and Avtovagzal stations of the Baku metro will be temporarily free. This was announced by Baku Metro CJSC and the Azerbaijan Ground Transport Agency.
The decision was made as part of the metro line separation project. The aim is to create additional travel options for passengers and organize transport flows more efficiently.
The innovation will simplify metro use for residents of Sumgait, Khirdalan, settlements along the Baku–Shamakhy highway, as well as parts of Absheron and Garadagh districts. Passengers will be able to access the metro without passing through Shamakhinka and 20 January territories.
Entering through Khojasan and Avtovagzal stations, passengers will be able to travel free of charge to nine stations: 8 November, Darnagul, Azadlyg Prospekti, Nasimi, Memar Ajemi, 20 January, Inshaatchylar, Elmlar Akademiyasy, and Nizami.
As part of centralized transport management, a number of bus routes are planned to be directed directly to Khojasan and Avtovagzal stations. The decision is based on monitoring and socio-economic analysis.
The measures are intended to provide more convenient and alternative connections between the Green and Purple metro lines and the Red line, reduce time and money losses for passengers, and optimize public transport movement at city entry points.
